About

Safari has been part of my life for as long as I can remember

I am GM — a personal safari consultant based in Nairobi, planning tailor-made journeys through Kenya for travellers who would rather be advised than sold to.

I was born and raised in Kenya, in a family that was passionate about tours and safaris. Weekends and school holidays were spent on the road: the long drive down to Amboseli, the escarpment viewpoint above the Rift Valley, a flask of tea somewhere with a view. Safari was never an industry to me first. It was the family holiday.

For more than three years I have worked as a personal safari consultant, helping travellers from all over the world plan journeys through this country. In that time I have learned that the hardest part of a safari is not the wildlife. It is the decisions made months earlier — which month, which park, how many nights, which camp, private vehicle or shared, fly or drive.

Getting those decisions right is the whole job, and it is the part I genuinely enjoy. Helping someone achieve an authentic Kenya safari — not a rushed circuit of famous names — is the reason I do this.

I work independently. I am not owned by a lodge group and I am not reselling one operator's fixed departures. When I recommend a camp it is because it fits your trip, and when I tell you a park will disappoint you in your chosen month, that is the advice you are paying me for.

What I believe

Fewer places, more time

Almost every itinerary I am sent is trying to do too much. Cutting a park usually improves the trip.

Honest before flattering

If your budget does not stretch to what you have described, I will say so early rather than late.

Local benefit matters

Conservancy models pay Maasai landowners directly. Where the money lands is part of the recommendation.
